VIRGINIA FRIGAULT-MacDONALD, clarinetist among the most appreciated in the international jazz scene, Virginia is known for her lyrical and soul way of playing the clarinet, Virginia MacDonald has been described as a “new important voice of the Canadian scene” Bassist Mike Downes, jury winner. She is a popular bandleader, sidewoman and songwriter and performs regularly in Canada, the US and Europe.

KIRK LIGHTSEY, originally from Detroit, Michigan, where he was born on 15 February 1937, is a pianist of immense skill and versatility who has worked with dozens of great jazz stars, including Yusef Lateef, Bobby Hutcherson, Freddie Hubbard, Curtis Fuller, Harold Land, Kenny Burrell, Chet Baker, James Moody, Clifford Jordan, Benny Golson and Don Cherry.
